it's not cheap, but i still like go
I hate to hear people moaning about men of a certain age. I find them far more considerate than some younger men. young men seem to swan around like they are gods gift to the greenhouse. I find older men are also cleaner. I also do not think the recent alterations have worked very well. I used to find just walking around the old maize was very erotic. still, most times I have plenty of fun, I also find the staff very friendly, but I agree, it could be cleaner.

Needs cleaning
I have been a regular customer at the Greenhouse for many years and this sauna does have some of the best facilities in the uk for a gay sauna. However the recent changes haven't worked. The new Amsterdam style cubicles aren't popular and have made a previously spacious venue seem cramped and uninviting. Also removing the ever popular cimema on the first floor to replace it with water sports room which no one uses was madness. The bar area is spotlessly clean, however the same cannot be said about the rest of the venue. I have never seen anyone clean the wet areas while it is open and it smells dirty. The floors are often filthy and the steam rooms are also pretty disgusting with regsrd to hygiene. If you've ever looked at one when the light is on you'd think twice about going in there again. By contrast the Northwich sauna is spotless and you regularly see staff cleaning. For a pricey £14 entrance fee customers deserve better standards. I would suggest they buy some bleach and make the staff clean the wet areas at least every couple of hours rather than polishing the bar or having a sit down which is all I've ever seen them do on my many visits. Sort it out gh!!!

Still shines
Have not been for some months as it's a 1.5hr drive..........
Clean as always, and food exceptional.
Tried the ' nude wednesday' does not really work here - well in the winter months, as going from one area to another there is not the constant temperature that is really needed. Most guys drape a towel anyway - but probably to protect from the cool.

Swimming pool I thought could have been much warmer, it was always good to relax in there, but very cool on this visit.

Jacuzzi good....... showers hot and steam rooms hot too.

Fairly quiet ' 10- 2. may have been busier later ( as the buffet kicks in at 6pm ) !!

I still rate highly but with the reservation on the swim pool as it's a super feature, only found in a handful of venues in the UK, only 3 come to mind.

top notch clean
Skip the reviews about ' aged clientele ' this sauna is consistenly good throughout.

Very clean - well maintained and all steam rooms, sauna swimming pool and terrace and jacuzzi working well.

The swimming pool is what set's this establishment apart, room to swim in and have fun too in the cave.

Excellent food, and the team i always find welcoming.

( note rd works so must go via Bentley - at the ' hindi temple . corner with McDonalds, turn left and it's on the right in about 3 mins - by car.)

last visit june 2013
both steam rooms inoperative though you will be told they are working.
clean enough though again staff all around bar area and no-one cleaning.
not many people there and those present advanced in age.

gud place but needs a change in staff except for excellent manager.

needs new blood as the staff can be quite intolerable. they don't seem to have any manners.

It's 14 quid to get in and I can say since my last visit they have spent some money doing the place up. However if you like OAP and seriously over weight guys then defo go, otherwise stay away!! The place could be cleaner with used lube wrappers on floor in cubicals and filled bins - not the best really! People who run the place appear friendly and it maybe the best facilities in the area but its expensive for what they are offering.

Sundays are very busy but a lot of time wasters and scary how many guys appear to not give a care about HIV is shocking - oddly the straight porn room smells lovely lol.

Summary: expensive - not clean enough - OAP - over weight

One of these discriminating reviews again! Why are some gays so subjective. There are those who like OAP and the overweight!

Consistently good
It's a while since I have been, high standard of cleanliness still maintained.
Excellent hot showers upstairs, good steam rooms and hot jacuzzi.
Today though swim pool could have been a touch warmer, which would explain why no clientele ventured in !!!

Good range of hot and cold food, pleasant team, and clientele too.

Still rate this the no uk sauna.
( note narrow road is closed so a diversion in place - past the ' hindu temple ' turn left here, and the greenhouse is a few minutes on the right.

My favourite location

a great place with plenty to do
Loads of rooms and spaces, takes a while to walk around and have a look!

I regularly visit and have started to go to a few other places too and I have to say always end up back at the Greenhouse. Mainly because its on my doorstep.

The maintenance is suffering a little and it could do with an upgrade, especially for the £14 price tag attached.

Food is quite good and very reasonably priced.

The dungeon is always good fun, if not a little too dimly lit for my liking, however if you find someone nice there is a really dark corner to have some "fun" in.

There are ample rest rooms and also 3 further large rooms for more than 2. as well as some more group areas. Generally everyone is very friendly both staff and customers. I did see someone spoke about the "chubby" member of staff and I think I know who you mean but I dont think he is rude just a little abrupt and thats the way he is. Generally they all remember faces and are friendly, well the day time staff are.. Evening staff are prissy queens!

generally though give it go

Not very good sauna
After getting inside the door I was met be a very rude chubby man who works here I asked for a cup of tea and he said you are suppose to go in the sauna first rudely.I said where is the rules does it say that ? I had driven a long way and just wanted a rest before any action. He took 15 minutes to make the tea and just left it on the counter and didnt say here is your tea mate. After that I went through to the jacuzzi area which was full of men having sex together like an orgy. I didnt feel safe going in the there as they were groping each other. Upstairs there is room showing straight movies which is a bit strange in a gay sauna. This place is only ok but beware of the rude chubby man who works there.

Still rated highly
I still rate this sauna the no 1 in the UK, altthough not visited them all !!

Visited Oct 20th, and did not realise it was ' bears day' whilst this is fine, it's quite large guys so the 5'6'' 's appear mini in caomarison.

Swim pool warm and inviting, jacuzzi is always very warm, steam rooms good.
Sun deck.. appreciate it is autumn, but the team do need to give the deck a scrub ready for next year.

That apart a clean venue, team welcoming, and food excellent.

Still good-with a reservation
Have been many times to thsi sauna , usually rated at the UK no 1.

Visited July 24th..... Downstairs steam room... luke warm.
Downstairs showers - need upgrading like the ones upstairs
as they were iffy and pressure low

That apart. swim pool great, upstairs steam i think has new seating and was very hot
jacuzzi hot too.

Sun deck..... mm the decking needs a coat of varnish as do the loungers.

Still though well worth a visit.

April 2011 update
Last Saturday in April, sunshine and a cool breeze. Facilities still good, the shower flooring had been fixed - well done.
Swimming pool good, and showers piping hot.
For a Bank Hol weekend, car park now where near full, probably a couple of dozen at any one time, sun deck was ok but there was a cool wind.

Still rate 5 star..........

.arguably the best facilities in UK
This sauna has arguably the best facilities in the UK. It originally was the offices of a factory and some of the original "deco" finishes are still in-situ.

It has 2 steam rooms, a sauna, swimming pool with waterfall, Jacuzzi and many dark rooms and cubicles (some with glory holes), There is even a "dungeon" and a sling room and a large porno theatre.

The staff are extremely friendly and there is a cafeteria serving full meals or snacks. As the premises are so large, it is quite important to go on a busy day otherwise you can spend you time running up and down looking for another human being! Pity some of these large saunas don’t copy those in Bangkok where part of the sauna is closed unless very busy!

They have several “themed” nights/days a month and these are good times to visit, including the Bear's Day on the 3rd Saturday of each month. (XXL hold a meet in Birmingham on the 3rd Friday of each month - so there is an overspill to the sauna on the Saturday). It is also possible to have B&B accommodation at the sauna - see the website.

The premises are difficult to get to unless you have a car. They are just off Junction 10 of the M6. You can also catch a bus from Walsall 529/Wolverhampton 333 (Every 15 minutes). For the 529 Get off at the Willenhall Mosque at the junction of Walsall Road (B4464) and Clarkes Lane( A462) . Walk down The Crescent, past the Robin Hood Pub, under the A454 Motorway road bridge, until you come to the Greenhouse. Walk takes about 10 - 15 minutes or take a taxi.

UPDATE MARCH 2009 - Many improvements and upgrading of facilities are being carried out at the present time which should make the sauna even more attractive as a venue.

UPDATE OCTOBER 2009 - The upgrading of the lavatories, upper floor showers and steam room has now been completed and looks very nice indeed.
