48 reviews written Chariots StreathamTake a train to Streatham Station (NOT Streatham Hill) from London Bridge or any station on the Sutton Branch of First Connect. Left turn out of the Station and walk up the road until you come to a small park, turn left into this park and walk up to the top, the sauna is next to you on your left. Alternatively you can take bus 159 from Whitehall/Westminster Bridge to Streatham and get off at the small park which is on your right (Babbington Road).
This is quite popular venue for those who live to the South of the River. The clientèle are of all ages. If your are 60 or over, you can obtain a £2 reduction on the entrance charge on producing your Freedom Pass or a Passport.
The sauna is on three floors with the steam, saunas and Jacuzzi on the ground floor and cubicles, darkrooms, porno video on the basement and first floors. Much of the action takes place in the steam room and darkrooms.
Special events which always attract a large crowd, are the Bears' Days every Tuesday and the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of the month, when free refreshments are supplied in the evenings - it is a good idea to get there early in the afternoon before the bears get too tired ;)
"Dark Steam" on Fridays can also be quite busy. The bar serves free coffee/tea and biscuits at all times. |
Pennine SaunaThis sauna is mainly for the older among us. It is has fairly basic facilities of a sauna, steam room and 4 resting/darkrooms. They serve very good value home cooked meals in the Lounge/TV room.
Most of the action takes place in the steam room. There are no private cubicles as such, apart from a massage room which can double for private purposes. Consequently, much of the sex is orgiastic.
It pays you to get there as early as possible, as there is some "lunch trade" and as the afternoon progresses it begins to empty (home to the wife, I suppose!)

Can GregoriThis is not a gay restaurant, but as it is such good value, many gays go there. Situated on the main road through Sitges.
Serves Tapas which you can easily make a meal of or there is a very reasonably priced daily menu.

Hair of the DogThis Restaurant Bar is situated on Church and Wood Streets. It has a nice patio for eating and as it is in the "Gay Village", quite a number of gay clientèle.

Victoria's MansionThis guest house is NOT gay, but due to its closeness to the "gay village", many gay people stay there. The rooms are quite homely and comfortable with Air-Con and en-suite bathrooms. There are laundry facilities in the basement.
I found the staff very kind and helpful and although breakfast is not included, the Church Street Diner is very close by. |
Le Bain ColonialQuite a trek to get to this place, but worth the visit if you are an older man although it has a mixed crowd with many regulars!

This is the oldest bathhouse in Montreal - opened in 1914! Amenities include high pressure steam room, whirlpool, massage, gym & lounges and two external terraces and a rood terrace. There are small private rooms and lockers. Afternoons are busy, in particular - Bear Soup every 2nd Saturday of the month. (A Bear Soup is - “an activity for Bears in a bath house”!) Le StudThis is dark denim/bear bar. A Macho Man's haunt - in theory ;) You walk around with a bottle of beer in your hand - not one of those fancy cocktails! Divided into various bars with pool, disco etc. Quite a fun place.

The Church Street DinerYou are made very welcome by the owners Richard and Alfredo and the waiters Mark & David. The Diner is situated on the Toronto "gay strip" and is open for breakfast from 08:00 and brunch on Sundays and closes at 22:00.
There is a varied and substantial breakfast menu and the menu for lunch and dinner is very well planned and varied. The Diner has quite a few older customers. A place that comes very highly recommended.

Oak Leaf Steam BathsBathurst on Bloor Subway Line (Green) & catch the 511 Streetcar down Bathurst to Carr St./Wolseley. Alternatively, go to Osgoode on the Yonge Subway Line (Yellow) & catch the 501 Streetcar & get off at Bathurst and walk up a block.
This is NOT a gay baths, but that can make it more exciting for some people! The Baths were built in 1941 and are used by transients who live there (open 7/24). Nevertheless, the baths are clean. The steam rooms and sauna are on the g.f. together with the lockers and rest area (not all the facilities are open dependent on the number of Clients). The upper floor is laid out as rooms and this is where any action takes place, although also possible in the steam rooms if not busy.

Spa Excess| Close to College Subway Station on the Yonge-University Line. This is an exceptionally well equipped sauna with steam, sauna and large whirlpool. Licensed Lounge Bar, 85 private rooms (you have to pay extra) some with double beds and porno TV. The top floor is laid out with a maze, glory holes, XXX video and an intriguing see-through urinal! The whole place is immaculately clean. Staff can be a bit offhand though as is often the case in the large gay saunas (can't get the staff, you know!) Mixed clientele, but with quite a few older guys especially at weekends. Worth a visit. |
The CellarThis is not really a sauna - more of sex club with a couple of "hot" boxes (no steam) in addition there are 20 rooms, 56 lockers, showers, 2 saunas & stall/glory-hole.. Nevertheless it is a pretty hot place! It is famous for its dark ambience and is open 7/24. Very busy on Wednesday's (billed as Wild Wednesdays) when it is difficult to find a locker/room after 18:00. Most of the action takes place in the back hallway and in the stall/glory-hole area. Start queueing out on the street by the black door!
They do a "Special" known as a "nooner" from noon to 13:00 & 19:00->20:00 weekdays for Can$9 including a room. Your stay is limited to 6 hours. The place is consequently very busy early afternoons & after work! If you arrive a minute after 13:00 you've missed the concession - be warned!! The rooms are offered on a 1st-come-1st-served basis, which explains the queue just before the 'nooners' start!

Thermas (Moratalaz)This sauna is frequented by "an older crowd" with some young admirers as well as bears, so NOT the place to go if you are a young man looking for young men!
It has taken over from International III (Lagaqzpi) when this was redeveloped a few years back, but has never been as popular as the old sauna. The premises are in need of some modernisation, bur are reasonably clean.
Take Line 9 (purple) to Vinateros and leave the platform from the rear of the train and exit into c/ Vinateros. Walk down with the park on your left hand side and turn left into Josè del Prado y Palacios taking the path down to the lower level and make for the white door surrounded with maroon ceramic tiling.
Don't be too bothered by the female receptionist. Pay and give her your shoe size. Your towels are in your locker - when you leave, pack your wet towels plus the sandals in the cotton bag provided and take it to the reception and place in the chute.
The sauna has a steam room, sauna, bar, two dark rooms, porno cinema and cabins. Most of the action takes place in the steam or sauna.

Principe SaunaIf you are a young man looking for young men, then GIVE THIS PLACE A MISS. It is primarily for older men and the young men that like them with a "sprinkling" of bears!
This sauna is a little away from the Chueca Gay Village. Take Line 2 (Red) on the Metro to Noviciado and leave by the Ministerio de Justicia exit and walk down c/ San Bernardo, turning right into c/ Antonio Grilo and then first left into Beatas. The sauna is on the right, halfway up the street.
Principe is on one floor and has a sauna, steam room, porno cinema, bar, a "sort of maze" and lots of cabins. Most action takes place in the steam room, maze and the back of porno cinema. Lots of group sex. The place is clean and friendly and it is my favourite sauna in Madrid |  |
BrucThis sauna is close to the centre of the city and is situated two blocks Northwest of Gran via de los Corts Catalans. Girona (Line 4 Yellow) is the nearest Metro stop
After paying, go upstairs to the mirrored changing room. The sauna is located on two floors. The Ground floor has the steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and showers as well as a maze and various cabins. The upper floor has a bar, porno video room and more cabins. Most of the action takes place in the steam room, sauna, maize and in the passage to the rear of the porno room and the back row of seats.
The premises have become very shabby over the years and are in dire need of a "facelift", but they are still interesting to visit as the entrance fee is extremely cheap and if you are "into" older men, then the Bruc is a must! |  |
Sauna Condal (Comtal)| This is one of the most popular saunas in central Barcelona and is situated very close to Plaça Catalunya. It is difficult to find as it is located in a very narrow side street, through and arch on the South side of Carrer Comtal (Catalan for Condal). The upper floors have a Jacuzzi, Steam room, Sauna, Porno Video room, many cabins & a bar. There are also a couple of dark rooms. It is open for 24 hours and there are cheaper entrance fees on Mondays and Wednesday, when the bath becomes very busy. Well worth a visit if you are in Barcelona. |  |
Xaica| This is NOT a gay restaurant, but many gays frequent it. It is only a stone's throw from Plaça Catalunya. There is a Menu of the Day, which is very good value including 3 courses, wine and bread. |  |
São PedroThis Steam Bath is supposed to be straight, but 95% of the clientèle are gay or bi-sexual. Consequently, any action is very discrete and mainly takes place in the steam room on the upper benches in the thick steam!
The bath is well appointed with a steam room, wet sauna and swimming pool on the 1st floor. Much display goes on in the shower area. On the 2nd floor is the changing area and a bar/TV room (there is no porno or cabins). The premises are immaculately clean.
When you arrive, collect your towel and robe (extra). Go to the top floor and ask for your sandals. The "old boy" will clean your shoes for you - leave him a small tip anyway when you finish. Bar costs and entrance fees are paid when you leave. |  |
Sauna NautilusThis is an extremely nice sauna situated in a small village not far from the border with France. It is set in a fine garden with a terrace & swimming pool kept at a constant 32C.
There are 2 saunas on the ground floor with a large Jacuzzi and a bar serving food and drinks. On the first floor there is a steam room, porno video room, a maze and various private rooms. Many of the clientèle who range in age from 25 to 60 are French from Lille & surrounding areas.
The sauna staff are very pleasant, helpful and friendly. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. |  |
Sauna OasisThis sauna is one of the most magnificent in Europe, except that parts of it are beginning to look a bit jaded in recent years due to general poor maintenance (some showers don't work etc.)
The sauna is set in a period house. The original ground floor reception is now a bar with chandeliers, oil paintings and magnificent displays of flowers. Drinks & snacks are available in this elegant room. On the floor above there is a formal Dining Room, where a superb buffet supper is served on Friday and Saturday evenings for a fixed price of €3.50. A Brunch is served on Sundays from 12:00->14:30, again for €3.50. A la carte Dinners are available on other evenings.
The wet area was refurbished with additional facilities and some superb tiling a few years ago. The busiest day is Tuesday when the entrance fee is €10 - get there early afternoon and enjoy yourselves. Of course weekends are also busy especially when a Girth & Mirth Weekend (Bears & Chubbies). E15 Club (formerly The Health Club/The 800 Club)The sauna has gradually been improved over the years and is situated on three floors with the wet area including steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi on the ground floor, together with a TV Lounge and bar for drinks/snacks. One of the porno video rooms is situated in the basement with an adjacent orgy room with sling and "Cross of St Andrew" The upper floor has cabins, cubicles with glory holes & a further video room and orgy room.
Catch the 69/257 bus from Stratford Bus Station or the train from Stratford (Central/Jubilee/Overground to Maryland Station. The sauna is a few minutes walk diagonally across from Station.
If you visit the sauna before 11:00 or after 20:00 there is a concessionary entrance fee of £8. There is also a £2 concession for the over 60's (just show your Freedom Pass/ID/Passport) [This does not apply if you are using one of the other concessions]. Although this is not exclusively a "golden oldie" place, there are quite a few who go and their admirers. The staff are nice and welcoming. Best on Saturdays and Sundays or go early in the afternoons.

Korpus| I found this sauna to be pretty basic with a good mix of ages. The sauna was of reasonable standard, but the steam room appeared to have been made out of an old greenhouse! Hotel Vieira'sThis is NOT a gay Hotel, but is conveniently situated in the centre of the town and is quiet and well equipped.
The staff are pleasant and extremely efficient.

Sauna BatelThis is the new sauna in town and is in the same ownership as the sauna of the same name in Curitiba. It has a bar, sauna, steam room and pool on the ground floor with a Porno Video room on the 1st floor with some cabins.
The clientèle are of mixed ages with some younger lads, some of whom appeared to be rent boys! Most of the action takes place in the steam room with a bit of display in the Porno Room.

Sauna BiancaThis is an unusual sauna in this seaside town with it's nearby beaches. If you have time whilst visiting, go to the nudist beach at Praia do Pinho, which is just off Route 101 just to the South of Camboriú on the way to Florianopolis.
The sauna is about 5 mintues walk to East of Av. do Estado and is on the corner of Rua Jamaica and Rua Palestina. Don't be put off by the femaie receptionist! The sauna is quite large and on the Ground Floor there is a bar, sauna, steam room and showers. The Basement has a further steam room various cabins and a cooling off area. The First Floor has a Porno Video Room with some further rooms off and a staircase leading down to an orgy/darkroom.
This is a very friendly sauna and much of the action takes place in the Basement steam room, Porno Room etc.
The best day to go is Saturday when the place is crowded from just after opening time. A free fruit meal was available on the Saturday I was there in June. Clube 269This is the sauna for the "beautiful people" in Sao Paulo.
Take a bus down Augusts and get off at Rua Costa. Take this street up to Bela Cintra (steep climb) and turn right - 268 is on your right. Alternatively take Metro to Consolação & then walk down Bela Cintra to the sauna.
This is a beautifully laid out sauna bath with fittings to a high standard and very clean. It has an area of some 1000 sq.ms. and holds around 400 clients when full. That is of course the problem, as unless it is a special occasion & reasonably full, you are likely to "rattle around like a pea in a pod"!
On the ground floor there are many private cubicles to hire (very few private ones, but a few upstairs). There is a pleasant steam room a very small Jacuzzi and various videos showing porno. The bar area is also situated here. Upstairs is the very small sauna with windows like a goldfish bowl and various dark areas. Don't miss the suckers' gallery!
If you are not young and beautiful, this sauna is probably best avoided, although there are "themed nights" See the web site. |  |
Apollo SaunaTake Line U3, S11, S21 or S31 to Sternschanze and then coming out of the station, walk up Daneweg & tum left along Altonaerstrasse, which continues into Max-Brauer-Allee. The sauna is on the right (very small & discrete entrance next to a fast food shop).
On the ground floor is the reception, a bar and the changing area. In the basement there is the steam and sauna and various dark rooms & porno video. Mixed clientèle with a high proportion of older men and the young ones who like them. Recommended. |
ArpoadorThis sauna is situated some distance from the centre of Porto Alegre and is most easily visited by taxi. It is in a quiet residential area and is discretely hidden.
The sauna is on 6 levels with a Reception and bar, he changing area is on the level below and on a lower level, the sauna and wet sauna, The lower ground floor house the small steam room and showers. On the upper levels there is a communal rest room and various cubicles and a porno video room.
The staff are quite helpful and pleasant and the place is clean and well kept. The clientèle were mainly in their 30's and there was a certain amount of attitude displayed. Personally I wouldn't make the journey again, but I am an older man who may not have been of interested to the customers! |  |

Castelar Turkish BathsCastelar is one of those old Turkish Baths found at the beginning of the last century. It is NOT a gay establishment, but, nevertheless, has possibilities of contact.
The entrance is to the left of the Hotel & down some stairs to the pay desk - the entrance charge is quite expensive, but why not pamper yourself?
You are given your towels and allocated a changing cubicle when you enter the baths proper. There is a sauna, steam room & 2 Turkish rooms. There is also a spa pool & refreshment bar.
Any gay action, with discretion, occurs in the far corner or on the upper tiers of the steam room. Also, display occurs in the showers and in the anti-room to the sauna.
The Clientèle are, on the whole, older, although some young bathers also frequent the establishment. Well worth a visit to sample the luxuries of yesteryear with the possibility of a chance encounter! |  |
ABC BailaoThere has been a gay night club on this site since the early 1980's when I visited a club called "Homo Sapiens", which was very chique at the time!
ABC is a much more "down to earth place" and caters for the older man and his admirers, although this is not exclusive. There are special concessions for men over 50. On Thursdays there is free food!
The music is inclined to "nostalgic" as well as the Brazilian Sound,
ABC is great fun and well worth a visit. It gets packed at weekends. |
Chopp EscuroThis restaurant is situated just down the street from ABC Bailao, the nightclub frequented by lots of older men and may explain why there are quite a few older guys as clientèle. The food is generous in quantity, mainly chicken, beef etc. at middling prices.
The restaurant is very gay friendly with pleasant and helpful staff. |
Termas For FriendsThis a sauna, which for some reason, tourists always seem to visit. Personally, I find it too snooty and much prefer other baths.
The Sauna has all facilities and is clean a well kept. Like "topsy she grow'd" - the place has been added to over the years and has become a bit rambling. The clientèle is mainly classy Brazilians (the most expensive sauna in town!!) and tourists. Mixed ages.
Go to metro Ana Rosa and turn down Rodrigues Alvis then left along r. Humberto 1. First right is Morgardo de Matheus with the sauna at bottom end on the right. About 10 minutes walk in a classy residential area.
July 2008 Visited this Sauna again after some years. Still not impressed! Is it really worth paying the highest entrance fee in Sao Paulo? The place is very clean, but the clientèle and the owner - what attitude!

Labirinttu's Club 24 Horas ConsolaçãoThis Sauna is situated just down the road from the gay popular Caneca Shopping Centre. Frei Caneca is a gay area just off Paulista Avenue with many gays cruising the street and shopping centre, The 107T & 7181 'buses down Augusta pass close by the sauna.
This is a very large bath on two floors, which if it is not full, you rattle around in like "peas in a pod"!! Limited cubicles so orgiastic sex seems to take place in the "pitch black" dark rooms (unusual for Brazil). Large shower area for display in front of bar. Two sets of gay porno showing at any one time. Mixed age baths but most in 30's Some limited cabins - no beds.
