..architecture, but anything else –
It was nice to have the opportunity of visiting the Kaiserbrundl Central Bathhouse again after so many years (I last visited in July 2001!). The architecture is still as grand, the crowds that where there then are now absent. On a Thursday with the “concession” of “two for the price of one”, there couldn’t have been more than 40 people in the course of the afternoon!

Now, as you can imagine with a place of this size, 30-40 people can easily get lost amongst the gargoyles and fretted stonework. Perhaps the languid attention of the cashier/barman may have alienated some people – not many people will be prepared for the offhand manner in which he serves his customers who, incidently, are paying his wages!

As of old, many of the customers are “well past their selling date”, but the place has a reputation for its elderly customers and even it’s “money boys” I didn’t see much sex going on, perhaps a little in the steam room. It has in addition two saunas and a beautifully designed cold plunge pool. The showers are also memorable where the young can display their wares (presumably for a price). On other sites the reviewers make mention of poor security with the electronic locker system, but I didn’t experience this problem.

Well worth a visit for the architecture, but anything else – I doubt it………..
